The first volume of Mental Health Issues of Child Maltreatment: Contemporary Strategies is a thorough examination of current knowledge on the way child abuse and neglect can affect a child?s mental and emotional development. In this volume interdisciplinary professionals focus on the presentation and assessment of trauma with a special focus on post-pandemic emerging trends in diagnosis.This text intends to do the following: - Define the problem of child maltreatment conceptually and numerically, using statistics that describe the state of maltreatment and the characteristics of those most affected by it - Identify causes and risk factors that appear to affect susceptibility to maltreatment, such as factors that increase a child?s risk of abuse or obstacles to delivering effective child protection services - Design interventions that are trauma-informed, sensitive, and developmentally targeted for children and their caregivers - Disseminate information about the evidence and effectiveness of these interventions to increase the profile for their usage in clinical practice - Educate students and future professionals in psychology, medicine, nursing, social work, and creative arts therapies to mitigate the effects of child maltreatment for future generations
