Sinopsis

Lewis Carroll este pseudonimul folosit de Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. Acesta a fost lector de matematicÄâ la universitatea Christ Church, Oxford. Dodgson a început povestea pe 4 iulie 1862, când a întreprins o cÄâlÄâtorie într-o barcÄâ cu vâsle pe râul Tamisa (Isis) din Oxford împreunÄâ cu reverendul Robinson Duckworth, cu Alice Liddell (în vârstÄâ de zece ani), fiica decanului universitÄâÈóii, ÈÖi cu cele douÄâ surori ale acesteia, Lorina (treisprezece ani) ÈÖi Edith (opt ani). DupÄâ cum reiese din poezia de la începutul cÄârÈóii, cele trei fete i-au cerut lui Dodgson o poveste iar, acesta, cu reticenÈóÄâ, a început sÄâ le spunÄâ prima versiune a poveÈÖtii de faÈóÄâ. Cartea a fost publicatÄâ în cele din urmÄâ în 1865, conÈóinând numeroase referinÈóe oarecum ascunse la cei cinci cÄâlÄâtori. Cartea Alice',s Adventures in Wonderland a fost tradusÄâ pentru prima datÄâ în limba românÄâ în anii 40. De atunci, mai mult de douÄâzeci de traduceri au fost publicate, pe lângÄâ diverse repovestiri ÈÖi prescurtÄâri. Traducerea de faÈóÄâ îÈÖi propune sÄâ contribuie la varietatea româneascÄâ de traduceri cu o versiune mai modernÄâ ÈÖi actualizatÄâ, în tendinÈóÄâ cu publicul actual. --áLewis Carroll is a pen-name: Charles Lutwidge Dodgson was the author&rsquo,s real name and he was lecturer in Mathematics in Christ Church, Oxford. Dodgson began the story on 4 July 1862, when he took a journey in a rowing boat on the river Isis in Oxford together with the Reverend Robinson Duckworth, with Alice Liddell (ten years of age) the daughter of the Dean of Christ Church, and with her two sisters, Lorina (thirteen years of age), and Edith (eight years of age). As is clear from the poem at the beginning of the book, the three girls asked Dodgson for a story and reluctantly at first he began to tell the first version of the story to them. There are many half-hidden references made to the five of them throughout the text of the book itself, which was published finally in 1865. Alice',s Adventures in Wonderland was first translated into Romanian in the 1940s. Since then, more than twenty translations have been published, apart from various retellings and abridgements. The present one aims to contribute to the Romanian array of translations with a more modern and up-to-date version, keeping up with the current audience.
